Challenge Family announces Challenge Fortaleza Brazil

Wednesday 19 February 2025

The global series of long distance triathlons, Challenge Family announces Challenge Fortaleza, expanding its presence in Brazil. Situated on the north eastern golden beaches of the country, Challenge Fortaleza will host both middle and sprint distance events as well as a junior option on 30-31 August 2025.

Fortaleza, the vibrant capital of Ceará in northeastern Brazil, is a must-visit destination for its stunning beaches, lively culture, and warm hospitality. The city boasts breathtaking coastal spots like Praia do Futuro, known for its golden sands and bustling beach bars, and Cumbuco, a paradise for kitesurfers. Fortaleza’s nightlife is electrifying, with live forró music and dance clubs keeping the energy high. Visitors can also explore the historic Centro, the impressive Dragão do Mar Cultural Center, and the local markets offering delicious seafood and handcrafted souvenirs. With its tropical climate, rich history, and dynamic atmosphere, Fortaleza is an unforgettable Brazilian getaway.

"The idea is to offer a transformative experience for athletes and spectators of all ages,’ says Fernando Menezes, Challenge Fortaleza race director. ‘We want to bring one of the most complete Challenge Family scenarios to Fortaleza, bringing together people who love challenges, new achievements and lots of fun."

“We are delighted to work with the team in Brazil to bring Challenge Fortaleza to the athletes in August 2025,” said Jort Vlam, Challenge Family CEO. “This part of Brazil is renowned for its vibrant energy and breathtaking scenery, as well as being well established in hosting sporting events. We look forward to welcoming athletes and their families from throughout Brazil and around the world to enjoy its tropical climate, rich history and dynamic atmosphere, as well as a spectacular race!”

The 1.9km swim will take place in the calm ocean waters off Fortaleza main beach, followed by the 90km bike, a coastal route with beautiful ocean views, well-paved roads, and a supportive local crowd. The fast, flat multi-lap run heads along the foreshore, passing iconic spots that showcase the city’s vibrant energy before finishing on the beachfront.
