Ironman Austria

Date: Sunday 01 July 2018 Add To Calendar
Location: Klagenfurt (Austria)

The Ironman Austria Triathlon takes place in the lakeside resort city of Klagenfurt, in the summer sport paradise of Carinthia. Located some 310km south of Vienna, between Italy and Slovenia, the area is considered to be the Copacabana of the Alps and one of the most beautiful places in the world. New for 2006: The swim start will no longer take place from the beach, but will be an in-water start. The Pros will start 30 m in front of the field, the under-one-hour swimmers in the second wave, followed by the rest of the age groupers. The 180 km bike course is changed from three 60 km loops to two 90 km loops. The new course runs from Klagenfurt through Südufer to Velden. The course then continues through Rosegg, St.Niklas and anti-clockwise around Faaker See lake. From St.Niklas, the course then runs back to Velden to join the old course and continues through Schiefling, St.Egyden, Ludmannsdorf and Köttmannsdorf back to Klagenfurt. This loop will be repeated twice. The run course heads out from the transition area along the north bank of the Wörther See (read Lake Worther!) to the turning point at Krumpendorf. The gravel trail offers a welcome respite on the competitor's legs before heading into the city center, around a giant dragon, and back out for a second lap.

Skipper, Gossage win IRONMAN UK Bolton

Sunday 15 Jul 2018 [Triathlon News]

Great Britain did it again in Bolton. Lucy Gossage and Joe Skipper celebrated another British double at the IRONMAN UK. For one of the two winners, the tough race in Bolton marked a beginning, for the other champion a farewell. Going into the race, Skipper was confident he'd have a big day. The 30-year had ranked third in Bolton twice; he was runner-up here just after finishing second at the IRONMAN North American Championship, Texas and IRONMAN New Zealand. Mola magnificent once more as he makes it three from three in Hamburg

Saturday 14 Jul 2018 [Triathlon News]

Mario Mola (ESP) made it a remarkable third straight WTS Hamburg victory on Saturday afternoon, delivering a superb run to take the tape once more in Germany. It had been a strong three-deep group of Johnny Brownlee (GBR), Vincent Luis (FRA) and Kristian Blummenfelt (NOR) that carved out a solid lead on the bikes, but Mola timed his attack to perfection as first he shut down the gap then created one of his own with an impressive 13:59 run to finish ahead of Luis in second and Richard Murray (RSA more

Saturday 14 Jul 2018 [Triathlon News]

From a starting line-up packed with seriously powerful podium potential, it was to be France’s surprise package, Cassandre Beaugrand, who left the field in her wake to earn a first-ever WTS gold at Saturday’s WTS Hamburg. An excellent swim saw the French National Champion in contention early on and she held firm in the 6-strong lead bike pack, before taking the race by the scruff of the neck and flying through the 5km run in a time of 15:48, Germany’s Laura Lindemann out-sprinting USA’s Katie Za more
