The city of Florianopolis, Brazil, celebrated another successful edition of the IRONMAN Brasil, continuing its legacy as a sanctuary for sports, natural life, and tourism from around the globe. This year's event showcased remarkable performances from both male and female professional triathletes, captivating spectators with their awe-inspiring athletic prowess.
In the male professional category, Luciano Taccone from Argentina emerged victorious, crossing the finish line in an impressive time of 7 hours, 55 minutes, and 38 seconds. Taccone displayed remarkable speed, endurance, and determination throughout the race, leaving his competitors in his wake. Reinaldo Colucci from Brazil secured the second position, finishing 5 minutes and 5 seconds behind Taccone, while Andre Lopes, also from Brazil, claimed the third spot, completing the course with a time of 7 hours and 24 seconds. Fernando Toldi (BRA) and Yvan Jarrige (FRA) rounded out the top five with respective times of 12 minutes and 51 seconds and 25 minutes and 28 seconds behind the leader.
In the female professional category, Pamella Oliveira of Brazil showcased her exceptional skills and determination, clinching the first position with a remarkable time of 8 hours, 44 minutes, and 26 seconds. Oliveira's performance was nothing short of extraordinary, as she demonstrated unrivaled endurance and consistency throughout the race. Mariana Borges (BRA) secured the second position, finishing 26 minutes and 8 seconds behind Oliveira, while Alex Watt from the USA claimed the third spot with a time of 8 hours and 44 minutes. Brittany Higgins (USA) and Bruna Mahn (BRA) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, with times of 8 hours, 52 minutes, and 36 seconds, and 8 hours, 59 minutes, and 11 seconds.
The 2023 IRONMAN Brazil, being part of the VinFast IRONMAN North America Series, also presented athletes with an opportunity to secure Men's and Women's Age Group Qualifying slots for the prestigious VinFast IRONMAN World Championship. The male champions from IRONMAN Brazil would earn their spot in Nice, France, on September 10, 2023, while the female champions would compete in Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i, on October 14, 2023.
