Frankfurt will yet again play host to some of the world’s best triathletes for the 24th edition of the race, taking place on Sunday 29 June. With two IRONMAN World Champions, the 2024 IRONMAN® Pro Series™ winner, Olympians, and multiple IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 Champions set to toe the line, fans of the sport can expect a race for the history books.
IRONMAN Frankfurt European Championship will be the ninth stop on the Experience Oman IRONMAN Pro Series tour and will offer $87,500USD and six qualifying slots to the 2026 IRONMAN World Championship® triathlon in Kona, Hawai`i.
Joining this world class professional athlete start list, will be nearly 3,000 age group athletes, each competing for qualifying slots to the 2026 IRONMAN World Championship triathlon.
The race will be broadcast live, free for all international audiences across IRONMAN YouTube, ironman.com/proseries, and DAZN, with additional regional live broadcast and highlight shows also available on L’Équipe Live in France, ESPN (within Disney+), SuperSport, hr-Fernsehen, RTVE, iQIYI, and Outside TV. Broadcast and streaming information can be found at www.ironman.com/proseries/how-to-watch.
Reigning IRONMAN World Champion, Casper Stornes (NOR) will wear bib number one. Stornes has had a successful season so far with two third places at Athletic Brewing IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside and Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas North American Championship this year. He finished third in Frankfurt last year and will no doubt be wanting to assert his status at the top of the sport.
Former IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion, and last year’s IRONMAN World Champion runner up to Stornes, Gustav Iden (NOR), will be chasing a podium place after finishing fourth in the 2025 edition.
Magnus Ditlev (DNK) will be making his long-anticipated season debut, hoping for a strong comeback after injury and illness. Ditlev has finished on the podium twice at the IRONMAN World Championship (2024, 2023), and has a string of other accolades to his name including the 2025 IRONMAN African Champion and is a major threat to any start line. With no Kona qualification just yet, Ditlev has a lot to race for. Similarly eyeing a Kona slot will be 2024 Experience Oman IRONMAN Pro Series champion, Italy’s Gregory Barnaby, who has had a taste of success in Frankfurt back in 2024 when he finished third.
Back for redemption following the heartbreak at ISUZU IRONMAN South Africa African Championship and IRONMAN 70.3 Aix-en-Provence triathlons is South Africa favourite, Jamie Riddle who will be expected to play a big role in the early stages of the race.
Representing Great Britain, Kieran Lindars will be in Frankfurt after a second-place finish in 2024, and an unfortunate DNF in 2025. Lindars has already secured his slot to Kona with an impressive eighth place finish at IRONMAN Texas North American Championship.
Vincent Luis (FRA) will also be high on everyone’s top picks after an outstanding IRONMAN debut in Texas saw him finish fourth amongst a high-calibre field.
Jonas Hoffman (GER) is also set to return after finishing fifth last year and will be joined by a strong contingent of German athletes looking to make their mark on home soil, including Finn Große-Freese, Wilhelm Hirsch, Jan Stratmann, Florian Angert and Paul Schuster.
