The race began with Britain's Hannah Munday leading out of the swim, closely followed by Chelsea Sodaro. On the bike, Marlene de Boer built a substantial lead, entering T2 (transition 2) over four minutes ahead of Græsbøll Christensen and over six minutes ahead of Sodaro. However, Græsbøll Christensen demonstrated her strength on the run, overcoming the deficit to take the lead just after the halfway point of the marathon and ultimately secure the victory.
Kona qualification implications, Græsbøll Christensen's win was impressive, but having already qualified for the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona with a third-place finish at IRONMAN South Africa, the Kona qualifying spot rolled down to Marlene de Boer. Chelsea Sodaro, the 2022 IRONMAN World Champion, secured her Kona validation by finishing competitively in third place.
