On Sunday, June 8, nearly 90 of the world’s top professional triathletes will head to Maryland’s Eastern Shore to toe the start line at the Qatar Airways IRONMAN® 70.3® Eagleman triathlon. The event will offer a maximum of 2,500 points towards IRONMAN® Pro Series standings, a $50,000 USD event total pro prize purse, and three slots per gender for the 2025 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship triathlon in Marbella, Spain.
The event can be viewed live in person and will be broadcast across multiple platforms for viewers around the world, including proseries.ironman.com, Outside TV in the US and Canada, DAZN and L'Equipe in France.
In the largest and most exciting professional field ever assembled for the Qatar Airways IRONMAN 70.3 Eagleman triathlon, a high caliber women’s field will be highlighted by 2023 IRONMAN World Champion and 2021 IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion, Lucy Charles-Barclay (GBR) who will be wearing bib number one. Charles-Barclay’s trip to Maryland marks her first IRONMAN Pro Series appearance and first IRONMAN 70.3 race since her second place finish at the 2023 IRONMAN 70.3 Kraichgau. The Brit is poised to perform well following a dominant win at the Club La Santa IRONMAN Lanzarote race last weekend.
Also toeing the start line in Cambridge will be 2022 IRONMAN World Champion Chelsea Sodaro (USA), who will be looking to rebound following lingering illness that affected her races at the Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas North American Championship and Intermountain Health IRONMAN 70.3 George North American Championship triathlons. Returning to racing following the birth of her first daughter in 2024 will be 2016 IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion Holly Lawrence who recently expressed her desire to pursue a qualification to the IRONMAN World Championship® triathlon in Kona in 2025.
Challenging the IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 World Champions will be the likes of five-time IRONMAN 70.3 winner, Tamara Jewett (CAN). Following her debut at the full-distance IRONMAN race in Texas, Jewett currently sits in ninth in the IRONMAN Pro Series Standings. Alice Alberts (USA) who finished just off the podium in Texas and currently sits at 11th in the standings, and Lisa Becharas (USA) whose performances on the bike helped her to finish top ten in her first two races of the season in Oceanside and St. George are also slated to race.
Not to be counted out are Grace Alexander (USA), Daniela Kleiser (DEU), Annamarie Strehlow (USA), Kristen Marchant (CAN), and Arlette Gonzalez (MEX).
In the men’s field, there will be fireworks as top contenders and some of the sport’s biggest rivals, Lionel Sanders (CAN) and Sam Long (USA), will look to reignite their duel from St. George two weeks ago as both make their debut at the Qatar Airways IRONMAN 70.3 Eagleman triathlon. While both Sanders and Long bring a litany of IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 race results to the event, Long will look to channel his experience racing on the Eastern Shore from when he earned a third-place finish at the IRONMAN Maryland event in 2023.
Also, challenging for top honors in Cambridge will be Germany’s Paul Schuster who is currently sitting 16th in the IRONMAN Pro Series standings and finished sixth at the Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas triathlon in April, Cameron Wurf (AUS) who will be entering his fifth IRONMAN Pro Series race so far this season and currently sits seventh in the standings, and Ben Kanute (USA) who sits 17th and will also make his debut appearance racing at the Qatar Airways IRONMAN 70.3 Eagleman triathlon.
Other top challengers include the likes of Jackson Laundry (CAN), Cody Beals (CAN), Bradley Weiss (ZAF), Colin Szuch (USA), Antony Costes (FRA), Robert Kallin (SWE), and Trevor Foley (USA).

Cambridge, a historic Chesapeake town on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, is home to the iconic Qatar Airways IRONMAN 70.3 Eagleman triathlon. This small coastal town hosts a big race, offering a mix of history, charm, vibrant arts, local restaurants, breweries, fresh seafood, and family-friendly fun. The Qatar Airways IRONMAN 70.3 Eagleman triathlon kicks-off with a 1.2-mile swim through the Choptank River and a 56-mile flat bike through the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge with stunning scenic views and vistas. The event will cap off with a 13.1-mile flat and fast run to the iconic finish line at Gerry Boyle Park, named in honor of the longtime IRONMAN 70.3 Eagleman and IRONMAN Maryland race director Gerry Boyle who passed in 2019.
In addition to the professional field, over 2,500 registered participants will compete at Qatar Airways IRONMAN 70.3 Eagleman triathlon on the same course, looking to earn age-group qualifying slots to the 2025 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship triathlon taking place on November 8-9 in Marbella, Spain.
