Canada’s capital city played host to its first edition of the IRONMAN® Canada-Ottawa triathlon on Saturday, Aug. 3. Luke Evans of Toronto, Ontario in the 25-29 age group, was the first to cross the line with a time of 8:40:22. Aliisa Heiskanen of Gatineau, Québec, in the 25-29 age group, took the win in the women's race crossing the finish line with a time of 9:32:46.
Approximately 3,000 registered athletes converged in Ottawa to compete in the first edition of IRONMAN Canada to take place in the Canadian Capital. Athletes were treated to a racing tour of the Capital City through a course that began with a 3.8km two-loop swim in the Ottawa River from Britannia Beach, a 180km bike course using the completely closed parkways passing with iconic landmarks and serene landscapes to the east and a 42.2km run throughout the downtown core of Ottawa before finishing against the backdrop of the Canadian Parliament.
The event offered men's and women's age group qualifying slots to the 2025?IRONMAN World Championship on September 14, 2025, in Nice, France (men), and on October 11, 2025, in Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i (women).
The IRONMAN Canada-Ottawa will return to the Canadian capital city on August 2, 2026. General registration for the 2026 edition will open on Aug. 7, 2025.
