Brent McMahon, Chloe Lane claim victories at the IRONMAN Wisconsin

The Wisconsin State Capitol and scenic Dane County played host to over 2,400 athletes from around the world for the 2022 IRONMAN Wisconsin, a part of the VinFast U.S. Series, and IRONMAN 70.3 Wisconsin triathlons as part of a festival weekend of racing on Saturday, Sept. 10 and Sunday, Sept. 11. The two events saw athletes swim, bike, and run through the Madison and its surrounding countryside culminating in exciting finishes beneath the backdrop of the Wisconsin State Capitol building. Today’s IRONMAN Wisconsin, a part of the VinFast U.S. Series, saw veteran Brent McMahon (Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada) return to form with a dominating performance to take the overall win in the men’s professional race with a time of 8:36:02. Chloe Lane (Adelaide, Australia) took victory in the women’s professional race with a time of 9:45:21. The 2022 VinFast IRONMAN Wisconsin also featured live event coverage that was on IRONMAN Now and can be viewed on Facebook Watch, YouTube and Twitch.
 
Nearly 14 minutes behind McMahon, Cody Beals (Guelph, Ontario, Canada) crossed the finish to claim a second-place spot on the podium with a time of 8:50:24. Adam Feigh (Grand Junction, Colo.) rounded out the podium in third with a time of 9:04:26. In the professional women’s race, Jessica Smith (Stanford, Calif.) took second behind Lane with an overall time of 9:53:32 while veteran Melanie McQuaid (Victoria, British Columbia, Canada) rounded out the podium in third with a time of 10:06:35.

On Sunday, the 2022 IRONMAN Wisconsin, a part of the VinFast U.S. Series triathlon saw athletes undertake a 140.6-mile journey through Madison and its surrounding areas during a rain soaked Sunday. The 2.4-mile swim took place in waters of Lake Monona, steps away from Madison’s iconic Monona Terrace. Once out of the water, athletes set out on the 112-mile bike course. The bike course led the athletes through the rolling hills and beautiful dairy land that Dane County is known for. Athletes then set out on the 26.2-mile run course taking them along the lakesides, through the University of Wisconsin of Wisconsin’s campus, into the historical Camp Randall Stadium and culminating in an unforgettable finish in front of the Wisconsin State Capitol Building. The 2022 VinFast IRONMAN Wisconsin offered 55 qualifying slots for the 2023 VinFast IRONMAN World Championship taking place in Kailua-Kona Hawai`i on Oct. 12 & 14, 2023.
 
On Saturday, the 2022 IRONMAN 70.3 Wisconsin triathlon saw Verona, Wisc.’s Alfredo Ramirez Pinho and Page Schutz of Minneapolis, Minn. claim victories. The 70.3-mile race took athletes through the waters of Lake Monona, traversed Dane County’s beautiful countryside, and ran along the shores of Lake Monona before capping off their race in front of the State Capitol. 2022 IRONMAN 70.3 Wisconsin offered 30 qualifying slots for the 2023 VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship taking place in Lahti, Finland on August 27 & 28, 2023.
