With racing opportunities looking sparse and travel restrictions increasing, the PTO have been looking to support local races with a prize purse where there has been enough interest from our professionals. We are delighted to support these races as it means our professionals will not only have the opportunity to earn money, but it will help them prepare for the $1 million prize purse PTO 2020 Championship at Daytona in December.
One of those races is the Helvellyn triathlon this weekend - Sunday 6th September.
Alistair Brownlee, Joe Skipper, Elliot Smales, George Goodwin and Will Clarke are in the men's race and Lucy Hall, India Lee, and Nikki Bartlett and recently retired Lucy Gossage are in the women’s race. The decision that top age groupers are allowed to start with the pro’s has been a popular decision.
Alistair Brownlee together with Joe Skipper was instrumental in rallying a pro field for this race and Alistair is honouring his commitment by flying home back to the UK on Sat night after his Hamburg race to be able to be on the start line by Sunday am. This means he won't arrive at the race location until midnight. What a legend and show of commitment by our PTO board member.
