IRONMAN Copenhagen Celebrates "Women For Tri" with an all Female Cast

Friday 16 August 2019

KMD IRONMAN Copenhagen is the official 2019 European host event for IRONMAN’s Women For Tri initiative, celebrating female participation in triathlon. We have lots of exciting activities planned across race weekend to support, give back and celebrate women in triathlon.

The swim is a 3.8 km one-lap course in the lagoon at Amager Beach Park with excellent spectator views from the shores, as well as atop the three picturesque bridges perched above the action.

On the 180 km Continental Tire bike course, competitors will wind through central Copenhagen before heading north on two loops in the rolling hills of the island's northern countryside, where lush farmlands create a scenic tour. Athletes will recognize the scenery from the World Road Race Cycling Championships, which took place here in 2011, and find themselves in a Tour de France-like atmosphere with spectators lining the course.

Once back in downtown Copenhagen, athletes will dismount their bikes next to the Denmark National Bank. This might be the fastest T2 in the world, as athletes hand over their bike and begin the run in just over 50 seconds.

The new 4-loop run course stretches along the city’s famous Copenhagen Canal, lined with bright 17th and 18th-century row houses, and takes you on a sightseeing tour of Copenhagen’s most famous sights before finishing in front of the majestic Danish Parliament building and more than 20,000 cheering fans. This is IRONMAN racing at its very best!
