IRONMAN 70.3 Jonkoping was a tough battle from start to finish. Swede Patrik Nilsson was one of the big factors in the men’s competition, but had a crash over the final part of the bike course. Nilsson started the run two minutes behind the lead and took over first position early, but felt issues coming up due to the crash. He eventually had to give the win away: Elliot Smales (GBR) stormed tot he front with five kilometers to go.
The women’s competition was a solo performance for more than four hours. Swede Lisa Norden led the race from start to kilometer 19 of the run, but she got passed by a flying duo. British Claire Hann executed a great run to the win in front of Pernille Jensen (DEN) and Norden.
