28 Age Group Athletes Take World Titles At 70.3 Championship Taupo NZ

The best long-distance triathletes in the world from 28 age groups claimed their respective titles at the 2024 VinFast IRONMAN® 70.3® World Championship triathlon in Taupo, New Zealand with the women racing on Saturday, Dec. 14 and the men on Sunday, Dec. 15. Approximately 6,000 athletes from 119 different countries, regions, and territories ranging in age from 18-85 competed in Taupo over the weekend. Below are the winners in each age group:

Athletes began their 2024 VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship journey with a 1.9km (1.2-mile) swim in the pristine waters of Lake Taupo with views of Mt Ruapehu, Mt Tongariro, and Mt Ngauruhoe in the distance. The 90km (56-mile) single loop FulGaz bike course featured the stunning and wide-open countryside, challenging rolling hills, and punchy climbs surrounding Taupo. The final leg, the 21.1km (13.1-mile) HOKA run course, featured two laps along the Taupo lakefront in front of a sea of triathlon fans.

DATEV Challenge Roth is once again demonstrating that it takes the wishes and concerns of athletes seriously. In 2026, a new drafting rule will apply to professionals on the bike course: the distance will be increased from 12 to 20 metres. This was decided by the organiser in consultation with the association.
