Raelert vs Lange at 70.3 Gdynia Poland

Friday 04 September 2020

The Enea Ironman 70.3 Gdynia comes up next Sunday – Special hygienic practices required – A strong line-up of athletes

Gdynia. For the first time since many months, the Raelert Brothers will take on a first competition next Sunday. Michael Raelert will start at the Enea Ironman 70.3 Gdynia. "It still feels a bit strange to be able to take part in racing again, but it feels like a privilege," says Michael Raelert, who trained in the mountains of France in the last few weeks. "After many training sessions as a lonely fighter, I am really looking forward to Gdynia."

The competition, which is organized by an experienced, professional team for several years, takes place under special conditions and strict hygiene practices. In terms of sport, a demanding race of 1.9 kilometers of swimming, 90 kilometers of cycling and 21.1 kilometers of running is expected. "The past events in Gdynia have shown that this race offers a fast course on which a lot is possible," says Michael Raelert. Not only Andreas Raelert was allowed to take the win here back in 2014, but there was a fabulous time delivered in Gdynia in summer 2018 for the women's winner Daniela Ryf from Switzerland. She achieved the fastest women's time ever in the world in 3:57:56 hours. "The course suites fine and the line-up is sharp," says Michael Raelert, "after many months of a race break, many athletes will definitely try to show their best."

There will be a strong field of racers in the men’s competition on Sunday. In addition to the 2017 winner, Boris Stein, other fast Germans are lining up, for example Patrick Lange and Florian Angert. Other top athletes include the Dane Kristian Hogenhaug, David McNamee (Great Britain), Swedish Patrik Nilsson and Ruedi Wild from Switzerland. “I'm really looking forward to the race,” says Michael Raelert. After the long break from competitions, he would like to achieve a successful return to racing.
