Nikki Bartlett, Nicolas Mann Win 70.3 Marbella ESP

Monday 08 May 2023

The 6th edition of the IRONMAN® 70.3® Marbella European TriClub Championship took place on May 07, 2023, and it did not disappoint. The professional men and women’s field put on an incredible display of athleticism as they battled it out for a share of the 30,000 € total professional prize and a qualifying slot for the VinFast IRONMAN® 70.3® World Championship in Lahti, Finland on August 26 - 27.

In the men’s race, it was Nicolas Mann (GER) who took home the top prize with an impressive time of 3:56:24. Niek Heldoorn (NLD) came in second, finishing 1 minute and 39 seconds behind Mann, while Jordi Montraveta (ESP) finished third, with a time of 2 minutes and 52 seconds behind the winner. Arne Leiss (GER) and Antony Costes (FRA) finished in fourth and fifth place respectively, with times of 3:08 and 3:53 behind the winner.

In the women’s race, Nikki Bartlett (GBR) successfully defended her title, finishing with a time of 4:27:18. Kaidi Kivioja (EST) came in second, finishing 6 minutes and 44 seconds behind Bartlett, while Daniela Kleiser (GER) finished third, with a time of 7 minutes and 59 seconds behind the winner. Laura Gómez (ESP) and Marta Bernardi (ITA) finished in fourth and fifth place respectively, with times of 8:24 and 8:57 behind the winner.

The race was a true test of endurance as the athletes navigated their way through a challenging course. The unpredictable 1.9km swim course started in the Mediterranean Sea and finished on the Levante beach of Puerto Banús. The extensive climbing through the famous hills of Marbella made the 90.1km bike course a challenging one, favoring the experienced athlete. Athletes raced through Monda, Coín, and Cartama before returning to transition in Puerto Banús. Lastly, athletes took on a fast flat 21.1km run course that led along the promenade of Marbella.
