IRONMAN Pro Series 70.3 Mont Tremblant Start List

Friday 21 June 2024

Top professional triathletes from around the globe will make their way to the Canadian province of Québec to compete at the IRONMAN® 70.3® Mont-Tremblant triathlon when the IRONMAN Pro Series™ returns to North America on Saturday, June 23. The 2024 IRONMAN 70.3 Mont-Tremblant triathlon will offer professionals a maximum of 2,500 points towards IRONMAN Pro Series standings, a $50,000 event total pro prize purse, and three qualifying slots for each gender to the 2024 VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship taking place in Taupo, New Zealand.

With a high caliber field of the female and male professionals set to compete, the event can be seen live in person and will be broadcast for free across multiple platforms for global viewers including proseries.ironman.com, Outside TV, DAZN and L'Equipe in France, and YouTube among others.

With every second behind the race winner equating to a point earned or lost, athletes know Every Second Matters. Among those to watch will be 2022 IRONMAN® World Champion and 2024 IRONMAN New Zealand Champion, Chelsea Sodaro (USA) making her debut in the IRONMAN Pro Series. 2024 Intermountain Health IRONMAN 70.3 North American Championship St. George Champion, Canada’s Paula Findlay, will return to the IRONMAN Pro Series looking to improve on her current 18th position in the overall standings and Australia’s Ellie Salthouse, fresh off a win at the IRONMAN 70.3 Boulder triathlon, will look to continue her current run of form. Other top contenders include Alice Alberts (USA), currently sitting at 7th in the standings and Sarah True (USA) who earned a podium position in her first IRONMAN Pro Series race in Chattanooga.

Returning to IRONMAN Pro Series racing will be Canadian Tamara Jewett, who is chasing her first points, after a DNF in her last showing, at April’s Athletic Brewing IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside triathlon. Tamara will also be seeking to defend her 2022 IRONMAN 70.3 Mont-Tremblant title, when the event last hosted a professional race.

Making their IRONMAN Pro Series debut in the women’s field will be Meredith Kessler (USA), Jodie Robertson (USA), Rachel Zilinskas (USA), and Alice Côté-Allard (CAN), among others, each bringing international representation to the strong women’s field.

In the men’s professional race, Canadian Lionel Sanders will return to IRONMAN Pro Series racing following a stress fracture shortly after his early season win at the Athletic Brewing IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside triathlon. Sanders will also be looking to defend his title from the 2022 IRONMAN 70.3 Mont-Tremblant race. Fellow Canadians Jackson Laundry, currently sitting in 5th in the IRONMAN Pro Series standings, and Cody Beals, who finished 9th at the Qatar Airways IRONMAN 70.3 Chattanooga triathlon, will look to challenge in the first IRONMAN Pro Series event in their home country. Stacking the competition further are the likes of Americans Colin Szuch (currently ranked 4th), Chris Leiferman (currently ranked 7th) and Trevor Foley (currently ranked 10th) whose decisive victory at the IRONMAN 70.3 Boulder event proved he is primed for top level competition in Quebec. Not to be overlooked is Brazil’s Andre Lopes who sits highest on the standings in 3rd.

Scheduled to make their IRONMAN Pro Series debut will be Ben Kanute (USA), Bart Aernouts (BEL), Filipe Azevedo (PRT) and Sebastian Fuchs (AUT).

The 2024 IRONMAN 70.3 Mont-Tremblant triathlon begins with a 1.2-mile (1.9km) swim in beautiful Lac Tremblant, before taking athletes on a 56-mile (90km) rolling cruise through the stunning Laurentian Mountains. Athletes will cap off their race with a 13.1-mile (21.1km) run that culminates with an unforgettable finish in the heart of the Village.

On the same course will be over 3,000 registered age-group participants competing at the 2024 IRONMAN 70.3 Mont-Tremblant triathlon alongside the professionals, looking to earn age group qualifying slots to the 2024 VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship race on Dec. 14 and 15 in Taupo, New Zealand.
