The IRONMAN 70.3 Davao Philippines took place on March 26, 2023, and it was a thrilling event for both the athletes and spectators. The race included a 1.9 km swim, a 90 km bike ride, and a 21.1 km run, challenging the competitors' endurance, speed, and strategy.
The male pro division was fiercely contested, with Filipe Azevedo from Portugal taking the top spot in an impressive time of 3:51:10. Ognjen Stojanovic from Serbia followed closely behind, finishing only 1 minute and 19 seconds later, with Tuan Chun Chang from Taiwan finishing third, over 6 minutes behind the leader. Robbie Deckard from the USA and Zsombor Deak from Romania completed the top five, finishing over 17 minutes and 23 minutes behind the leader, respectively.
In the female pro division, Sarah Crowley from Australia took first place with a time of 4:20:15, followed by Lauren Brandon from the USA, who finished over 2 and a half minutes later. Lottie Lucas from the United Arab Emirates finished in third place, over 4 minutes behind the leader, followed by Julie Iemmolo from France and Ai Ueda from Japan, who finished over 17 minutes and 23 minutes behind the leader, respectively.
The race conditions were excellent, with the weather staying cool and cloudy throughout the event, making it perfect for the competitors to showcase their skills. The swim was held at the beautiful and serene Davao Gulf, with the athletes completing two laps of the course before transitioning to the bike leg, which consisted of three loops of the city. The run course was a two-loop affair, with the athletes completing a total of 21.1 km.
The race was filled with excitement, with the athletes pushing themselves to the limit and battling it out for the top spots. The organizers did an excellent job of ensuring that the event ran smoothly, with the volunteers and support staff providing much-needed assistance to the competitors throughout the race.
