World-Class Athletes Head to Inaugural CHALLENGE Budva-Montengro

Friday 08 October 2021

Following last year’s cancellation due to COVID, CHALLENGE BUDVA-MONTENEGRO is ready to go this Sunday with a strong field of world-class athletes ready to compete against each other in spectacular Montenegro.

From Nils Frommhold (DEU) and Magnus Ditlev (DEN) to Patrick Lange (DEU), recently the winner of DATEV CHALLENGE ROTH, each has his eye on the inaugural win at CHALLENGE BUDVA-MONTENEGRO. But they have some competition from the likes of Ruedi Wild (SUI), Mattia Ceccarelli (ITA) and Ognjen Stojanovic (SER) plus a number of others who could deliver a surprise on the day.

In the women's race, we can expect another great battle between Els Visser (NED) and Lucy Hall (GBR). Last weekend these two athletes finished second and third respectively at CHALLENGE SALOU, won by Lisa Norden, so at CHALLENGE BUDVA-MONTENEGRO they will be pulling out all the stops to claim victory. In the process, it will be exciting to see which of the two athletes has recovered best from the tough race in Spain. Yet they will also have to take into account more strong women at CHALLENGE BUDVA-MONTENEGRO such as Swiss athletes Emma Bilham and Melanie Baumann.

One thing is certain: the first edition of CHALLENGE BUDVA-MONTENEGRO will provide a spectacular background to all the action with its stunning scenery. Athletes will swim in the crystal blue Adriatic Sea, bike through the historic streets of the ancient town of Budva, and along the breathtaking Montenegro coast and eventually run along the Budva seafront, with its lively Mediterranean atmosphere.

On Sunday 10 October, the pro men will start at 7:00am CEST. The pro women will follow at 7:05am CEST and age groupers at 7:10am CEST. You can follow CHALLENGE BUDVA-MONTENEGRO via our live updates at www.challenge-family.live. On Saturday 9 October there are several side events, including a 5km run and a Kids Race.
