Jones is a Kona Ironman world champion (2006), ITU world champion (1998, 1999), XTERRA Triathlon world champion (1996) and Olympic silver medalist (2000). The Australian triathlete has more than 175 wins to her credit across all race distances, both on- and off-road.

Friday, Oct. 24, Jones will be on hand at the PPD Beach2Battleship race expo at the Wilmington Convention Center to sign autographs and meet athletes, friends and visitors. Later, she will welcome athletes at the kickoff dinner.

On race day, Saturday, Oct. 25, look for Jones in the finish line area on Water Street, where the PPD Beach2Battleship and NHRMC 5K athletes will take their final triumphant steps. Finally, she will address the audience at the athlete celebration brunch and awards ceremony, Sunday, Oct. 26 at 10 a.m. in the Wilmington Convention Center. Tickets for the athlete dinner and awards brunch are available at www.beach2battleship.com.
Jones said, “I am excited to be invited to PPD Beach2Battleship triathlon and look forward to meeting all the participants and sharing my story.”

“We recognize that the journeys of our PPD Beach2Battleship athletes have been marked by tremendous dedication, passion and sacrifice – the same qualities that have been pervasive in the incredibly successful career of Michellie Jones,” said PPD Beach2Battleship Race Director Jeremey Davis. “We are so pleased she will serve as our race weekend host to recognize the achievements of our participants.”

The PPD Beach2Battleship Triathlon and NHRMC 5K benefit the Wilmington Family YMCA.
