After hanging up the microphone at the end of the 2022 IRONMAN® triathlon season to spend more time with his family, the “Voice of IRONMAN,” Mike Reilly, has announced that he will return for a special occasion to call the 25th anniversary of the Athletic Brewing IRONMAN Lake Placid triathlon, part of the VinFast IRONMAN North America Series on July 21, 2024.
Mike Reilly, the most famous voice in the sport of triathlon had a career that spanned over 33 years, 33 IRONMAN World Championship events, and a total of 214 IRONMAN events; during that time, he welcomed over a half million athletes with his iconic call of ‘You are an IRONMAN!’ as they crossed the finish line. This July, Mike Reilly will take to the microphone once again and add one more event to those totals.

In addition to the limited The IRONMAN Foundation race entries, three team relay spots will be open for auction March 18 through 29. - Team Red: (Swim) Andrea Fisher, former professional triathlete, the first women to exit the water at the 1999 IRONMAN Lake Placid triathlon, and a multiple IRONMAN® 70.3® event champion; (Bike) Auction Winner, and (Run) Mirinda Carfrae, 3-time IRONMAN World Champion, and multiple time IRONMAN event champion.
- Team White: (Swim and Run) Ben Hoffman, current professional triathlete and multiple time IRONMAN event champion as well as Andy Potts, former Olympian and multiple time IRONMAN event champion to split the swim and run segments, and (Bike) Auction Winner.
- Team Blue: (Swim) Auction Winner; (Bike) Heather Jackson, former professional triathlete and the 2018 IRONMAN Lake Placid triathlon champion, and (Run) Sika Henry, first US black professional woman triathlete.
Leading up to race day, The IRONMAN Foundation will be building 100 bikes in the IRONMAN Village at The IRONMAN Foundation booth. Those that attend the IRONMAN Village are encouraged to stop by The IRONMAN Foundation booth to help build a bike, which will be donated to a local race community child in need. The IRONMAN Foundation race entries help leave a positive impact in race communities through grant funding and volunteerism. In 2024, The IRONMAN Foundation will donate $65,000 to the local Lake Placid community through various donation outlets, bringing the donation total to over $1.9-million USD for the region historically.
In addition, the 2024 Athletic Brewing IRONMAN Lake Placid triathlon, part of the VinFast IRONMAN North America Series will be the 12th stop on the newly announced IRONMAN Pro Series™. The IRONMAN Pro Series will be contested over 18 designated events in the 2024 pro circuit. Designed to showcase and reward the exceptional talent of the world’s top professional triathletes, a large contingent of professional athletes are expected to descend on the Adirondacks to toe the start line and add to the excitement surrounding the 25th anniversary of this iconic IRONMAN triathlon.
