IRONMAN 70.3 Andorra Joins Andorra Multisport Festival

Thursday 14 January 2021

After being announced towards the end of 2020, the new Andorra Multisport Festival now kicks into gear: dates have been set and courses have been scouted. The festival will comprise of five unique events, two triathlons, one road cycling stage race, one mountain bike stage race and one trail running event, starting on March 19, 2021 and ending on July 4, 2021. The races will take place all around the country and specifically in Andorra La Vella, Ordino, La Massana and Sant Julià de Lòria. The main athlete village will be set in Parc Central in Andorra la Vella.

How about a World Championship for a start? From March 19 to 21, 2021, the world’s best winter triathletes will convene in Andorra to select a new champion among them.

Taking place in Sant Julià de Lòria and nestled in the Naturlandia adventure park, the World Triathlon Winter Championship Andorra provides athletes with an amazing race experience as they complete across three disciplines: running, mountain biking and cross-country skiing surrounded by forests and spectacular mountains. It is the only event of the Andorra Multisport Festival held in winter and a unique opportunity to explore a new side of this stunning alpine destination.

From June 21 to June 26, 2021 the Andorra 21 Ports road bike stage race invites athletes on a journey across three stages and a total distance of 295 km (183 miles). Starting and finishing in Parc Central in Andorra La Vella, riders will enjoy the stunning landscape of Andorra while riding on the very same roads that have seen riders from two of the world’s most famous Grand Tours.

Takin place in Ordino, the Trail 100 Andorra-Pyrenees from June 24 to June 27 invites adventurous trail runners to (re-) discover the mighty Pyrenees on courses ranging from 7,5 km (4,6 miles) to 125 km (77.5 miles) and push the boundaries of their limits while exploring the rich cultural heritage of Andorra and its mountain ranges.

It wouldn’t be Andorra if there wouldn’t be more mountains involved. Starting in La Massana, the Andorra MTB Classic-Pyrenees is an exclusive four-day stage race by the organizers of the world-famous Epic Series of mountain bike events. Riders looking for a challenging, technical yet enjoyable multi-day event shouldn’t look any further – as a race with a sense of adventure and community awaits them in the heart of this mountain paradise.

IRONMAN 70.3 Andorra will be held on July 4, 2021. Consisting of a 1,9 km (1.2-mile) swim course in one of Europe’s highest lakes, a 90,1 km (56-mile) bike course that leads to the top of the legendary Coll de la Gallina and the La Peguera passes this event is bound to become a bucket list event. Throw in a fast three-loop run course near the Valira River into the mix and the result is a race that will quickly become a mainstay on the European circuit.

General registrations for Andorra 21 Ports, Andorra MTB Classic-Pyrenees, Trail 100 Andorra-Pyrenees, IRONMAN 70.3 Andorra will open on January 21 at 2 p.m. CET. More information about the Andorra Multisport festival can be found here: www.multisportfestivalandorra.com.
