ERDINGER Alkoholfrei’s age group athlete Carol Bridge has been picked for the Welsh Commonwealth Relay Team. She replaces Non Stanford who is absent due to injury and has been called up ahead of Leanda Cave. This is a massive opportunity and Carol is thrilled. Speaking to her this morning Carol couldn’t stop smiling, “To race at this level of competition is something I have always wanted to do”.
Carol will now adjust her training plan to accommodate the shorter distance. With just over a month before the race in Glasgow she will concentrate on shorter, faster workouts to maintain the great condition she is in at the moment and also to continue to build on her season’s success so far. This included a gripping race at the Outlaw Half, where she narrowly missed out on defending her title.
A second member of the ERDINGER Alkoholfrei team will be racing in Glasgow. Dan Halksworth will compete for Jersey in the individual event at the Olympic distance.
It’s the first time the mixed relay will be included in the Commonwealth Games and it will certainly be a great spectacle to watch at Strathclyde Country Park, where Carol’s friends, family and Rhondda Tri Club team members will be cheering her on all the way. Good Luck Carol!
