The Race Director , Alessandro Alessandri presented the second edition of the Challenge Rimini, Italy, at the local Palace of tourism. “This weekend race promises to be very dense and enriched with the highest level of support on Sunday. The swim this year will start and come out at the beach of Marina Centro. The 90 km cycling takes the athletes inland, on a path slightly softened compared to the altitudes of the first edition . The Run is entirely on the waterfront , it will develop over three laps of 7 km each”.
Daniel Fontana , recent winner of Ironman Los Cabos and second in the first edition of Challenge Rimini : ' I am honored to be back in Rimini . Last years race with Macca I had the experience of an event at the highest technical level. This year, the value of the athletes at the start is very high testimony to the great appreciation of this event in the world of international triathlon . After coming second to Macca in a sprint finish last year I am back to finish the job properly this year.
Terenzo Bozzone : “My last trip to Rimini was in 2001 where I won my first world title so Rimini has great memories for me. I love the energy of this area and its sports movement whenever I am lucky enough to return. I know the strength of my opponents and I know that Daniel Fontana is the favorite of this year , but I'm not here to be second to anyone”.
Gina Crawford : ' I'm very excited to be at the start of a race of this value . I got to try the bike path these past days and have found it very challenging, but at the same time absolutely charming and very suitable to my characteristics . I hope that on Sunday I will be equal to the task at the highest technical level”.
Yvonne Van Verklen : ' I am absolutely excited to be able to have the opportunity to compete in Italy . Challenge Rimini is at the top of my priorities for this racing season 2014. ‘Im In very good condition at this time, especially with regard to my cycling .
