Just a quick note to fill you all in on my top-ten finish at the 70.3 US Championship event that took place in St. George, Utah over the weekend.
This was my first time racing this event and it truly was top-class: the scenery, the challenging course, the competition. At the end of the day, I am satisfied with my 10th place finish at the event. Dream day? No. Disaster? Far from it. Strong from start to finish? You bet!
I came out of the water right in the mix (thank you TYR). My ride left a bit more to be desired - but it’s good to note where my fitness is at. I was fortunate enough to be racing on a brand new Trek Speed Concept (thank you Trek, SRAM + Quarq). Onto the run, I settled in nicely. The last few miles of the race were the most exciting of the day for me as I passed 3 women to move into 10th place by a stone’s throw (thank you Saucony). God love sprint finishes at the end of an endurance event! Before the race I sat down with my coach, Jesse, and we assessed a few benchmarks for me to reach. At the end of the day, I ticked off all the boxes I was hoping to. The women at the front of the race were in a league of there own. It was quite motivating, to be honest.
All-in-all my fitness is in a great place. I am 100% healthy (a year ago, I couldn’t say this). I am training consistently. Things are coming together nicely.
I’ll be buckled down and working hard the next few weeks as I work towards my next goals: Raleigh 70.3 on June 1st followed by Ironman Austria on June 29th.
Thank you to my wonderful sponsors for there continued support.
Thank you AtoZion for hosting such a great event with first class hospitality.T
