Sunday was witness to the inaugural ICAN Málaga . A day that featured two distances, and ICAN57 Half ICAN , which was marked by the dominance of the Malaga triathletes.
In the Half ICAN mens race victory went to Gustavo Rodríguez ( Cidade de Lugo) , 3 hours and 47 seconds: The second place went to Malaga’s own Ruben Ruzafa ( Triathlon Association Añoreta ) with 3:50:42 , and third place went to the UK’s Joe Skipper ( Starley Bikes ) with 3:55:55 .
The race was marked by the wind that tested endurance athletes, the heat was rising as the hours passed and the pre race favorites for the event, Eneko Llanos and Portuguese José Estrangeiro succumbed to the conditions.
In the women race victory went to local girl Aida Valiño in a time 4:26:57 . Second place went to Natalia Rana ( Daemons Rivas ) , with a time of 4:44:44 , and third place for vitoriana Arrate Mintegui ( 3Style ) with 4:45:46 .
A large audience came to witness the race along the route, ICAN's Next event will be on July 6 in Gijon, then continue with the German town of Nordhausen, Sevilla or Gandia ( Valencia) , among other destinations.
