Three time IRONMAN World Champion and two time IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion, Craig Alexander (AUS) has regrettably had to withdraw from the professional field for IRONMAN 70.3 Putrajaya this weekend. Alexander has failed to recover in time for this weekend’s race after his efforts at the IRONMAN Asia-Pacific Championship Melbourne on March 23. One of the world’s most respected athletes in the sport delivered an amazing effort in Melbourne and the effects took a toll on the 41 year old body of Alexander. This impacted his preparation for Putrajaya physically and for the heat and humid conditions. "I really didn't want to miss out on coming over to Putrajaya for this amazing inaugural race and meeting the Malaysian triathletes. It is definitely going to be different and lots of fun to take part in a relay team and have the chance to cheer everyone one on."” – Craig Alexander.
Not wanting to disappoint his fans in Malaysia, Alexander will still be standing on the start line, only this time it will be in unfamiliar territory as he takes part in the relay team event under “Team Crowie”.
