IRONMAN Expands into Turkey

Friday 10 October 2014
IRONMAN announces its 2015 IRONMAN European Tour calendar which includes a new race in Antalya, Turkey.

IRONMAN moves into new territory by adding an inaugural race in Turkey – the Gloria IRONMAN 70.3 Turkey, scheduled to take place in Antalya on October 25, 2015. Additionally, based on the success of the first-ever IRONMAN 70.3 Budapest, Hungary will host two more races in Eastern Europe; the Herbalife IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia, Poland and the IRONMAN 70.3 Pula, Croatia. IRONMAN's 2015 European Tour now includes 23 IRONMAN 70.3 races and 13 IRONMAN races.

"IRONMAN saw a highly successful year in Europe in 2013 and we are excited to build upon this success.  In fact, a record was set in 2013 when first-year IRONMAN 70.3 Staffordshire sold out in less than an hour. We look forward to offering athletes more opportunities to race and experience IRONMAN's unforgettable brand," said Thomas Dieckhoff, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of IRONMAN European, Middle East and Asia. In addition to Turkey and Croatia, IRONMAN will also add these races to its 2015 schedule: IRONMAN 70.3 Staffordshire (UK), IRONMAN 70.3 Dublin (Ireland), IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia (Poland).

Next year’s IRONMAN European Tour will also see more Championship races than ever before: The Standard Bank IRONMAN African Championship in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, the IRONMAN European Championship in Frankfurt, Germany, the Sparkassen Finanzgruppe IRONMAN 70.3 European Championship in Wiesbaden, Germany and most notably the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Zell am See-Kaprun, Austria.

"Some of the most elite triathletes in the world will cross paths in Europe and Africa next year. We are humbled by the task that lies ahead to provide all of them – professionals and age-groupers alike – with a unique racing experience that matches the high level at which these athletes compete," said Thomas Dieckhoff, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of IRONMAN European, Middle East and Asia.
