Iconic IRONMAN Lake Placid returns to Upstate New York

The Alpine Village of Lake Placid, New York set to host the return of the longest running IRONMAN event in North America. ViewSPORT IRONMAN Lake Placid will lead athletes along a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike and 26.2-mile run through upstate New York’s stunning Adirondack Mountains culminating in an electric finish line on Main Street in front of the Olympic Oval. 

The event will welcome approximately 2,000 registered participants. 19-year-old Sarah Adelson from Gansevoort, NY is the youngest female athlete racing. 18-year-old Kyle Kirshen from Glastonbury, Conn. is the youngest male athlete racing. 71-year-old Kathleen Peck from Goshen, Conn. is the oldest female athlete racing. 81-year-old Dean Paxson from Sun Lakes, Ariz. is the oldest male athlete racing. Occupations include Airline Pilot, Chef, Dentist, Flight Attendant, Fire Fighter, Engineer, Nurse, Scientist and Writer.

IRONMAN Lake Placid will offer 150 qualifying slots to the 2021 Supersapiens IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i. 

Professionals compete for $100,000 USD plus 2 MPRO/ 2 FPRO/ 2 Unassigned Kona Slots.

American Taylor Knibb cemented her name in the history books yet again as she took her third consecutive title at the 2024 VinFast IRONMAN® 70.3® World Championship with an overall finish time of 3:57:34. Knibb swam 24:30 over the 1.9 km (1.2-mile) ROKA swim course, biked the 90km (56-mile) FulGaz bike course in 2:10:09, and ran a 1:19:20 on the 21.1km (13.1-mile) HOKA run course to finish among cheering crowds on Tongariro Street in the heart of Taupo. more
