Impressive Line-up for IRONMAN Lanzarote

Friday 02 July 2021

IRONMAN Lanzarote is one of the longest-standing races in Europe. A Unesco biosphere reserve, Lanzarote is a captivating island with 300 volcanic cones. Stark landscapes reminiscent of the black lava fields of Kona are intermingled with tropical beachside scenes.

The 3.8 km (2.4 mile) swim takes place at Playa Grande in Puerto del Carmen.  Water temperatures in Lanzarote usually command a wetsuit-mandatory swim.

The one-loop 180.2 km (112 mile) bike course has made this race a legend in its own right. Breathtaking views, picturesque villages and places like El Golfo, La Geria, Mirador del Rio can be found along this stunning bike course that finishes in Puerto del Carmen.

The three-loop 42.2 km (26.2 mile) run course is famous for its beautiful views, intense sunshine and massive crowds that cheer on the athletes as they make their way along the Avenida de Las Playas and back to the finish line.

The IRONMAN Lanzarote will award $50,000 US prize purse plus 40 slots for age groups and 4 slots for PRO athletes (2 MPRO/ 2WPRO) for the 2021 IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, Hawaii on October 09th, 2021.
