The swim had to be cancelled due to adverse water conditions, the bike leg started in T1 and a very challenging race started. Frederic Funk (DEU) battled Pieter Heemeryck (BEL) and Kenneth Vandendriessche (BEL) in the open half of the bike.With 30 km's raming, Funk took over the lead and dismounted the bike with a two minute lead on the field. The German put in a slid run to take the bike and run race, notching a 3:35:00 winning time.
On the women’s side it first was a battle between Lucy Hall (GBR) and Emma Pallant (GBR). While Hall dominated the bike she was quickly dislodged from the lead as Alexandra Tondeur (BEL) and Jeanne Collonge (FRA) took over the chasing rolls. Pallant won her second IRONMAN 70.3 within a week clocking a 4:08:14 victory.
