We have seen this winning game plan executed time and time again by Andrew Starykowicz (USA); on this occasion the stage was in Michigan. The script goes: come out of the water at or near the front, then crush the bike hoping you have enough of of an advantage into the run to enable you to cross the line first. Starykowicz was first out of the water, dismounted the bike 8:27 faster than the field and hung on to take the victory by a 1:59 winning margin. The end!
Jackie Hering (USA) headed into T2 and was accompanied by season veterans Meredith Kessler (USA) and Dede Griesbauer (USA). There was no touching Hering in the run as she laid down the fastest run slit on the day to claim the the victory.
