Dane Daniel Baekkegard managed a big surprise at the Nokian Tyres IRONMAN 70.3 Finland. The strong runner was among the favorites, but all eyes were on Nick Kastelein. Kastelein led the race together with Baekkegard and Swiss Manuel Kueng on the bike, but when the Australian was expected to storm to the front on the run, this attack was on the Danish athlete who celebrated the win in 3:45:38.
India Lee offered the second-fastest swim, the best bike split and a strong run performance to reign the women’s competition in the City of Lahti. After about half oft he bike, the British moved into the drivers seat and took the win in 4:17:55.
