At IRONMAN 70.3 Peru, Cyril Viennot's (FRA) played a patient game on the bike that saw him scamper into T2 down just a minute to the top five men ahead of him. The lead would shuffle among the front runners for the first half of the run until Viennot grabbed the lead with 10.8 kilometers completed. Veteran Andy Potts (USA) looked like he was going to make a challenge for the lead late in the run and was within 10 seconds of the leader with 5 kilometers to go. Viennot found an extra gear late and managed to claim the win by a 30-second winning margin over Potts.
Sarah Piampiano (USA) used the fastest bike split on the day to set up her win in Lima. Carrying close to a two-minute lead at the conclusion of the 90-kilometer bike, Piampiano doubled down with a race-best run to take the title with Kelsey Withrow (USA) and Romina Palacio (ARG) completing the podium.
