Campeche is one of Mexico’s best-kept secrets, with its colonial atmosphere, narrow streets, and pastel houses. The city is surrounded by walls that were built during the late 1600s to early 1700s in order to protect the city from Caribbean pirate attacks. The construction of the city walls took approximately 18 years to complete and much of the 8-meter high walls still exist today.
The 1.2 mile (1.9km) single-loop swim takes place in the protected water of the Gulf of Mexico. The rolling start swim start will take place at the Campeche Country Club Marina.
The two-loop, 56-mile (90 km) bike course will take athletes up and back along the Merida Highway before the final turn heading back to T2 at Downtown Campeche.
The two-loop flat and fast 13.1-mile (21 km) run course winds along the Campeche Bay. Athletes will be treated to a very spectator friendly run course before finishing at the Campeche Convention Center XXI.
The 2018 IRONMAN 70.3 Campeche offers 30 age group qualifying slots to the 2018 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in South Africa.
Professionals compete for P-750 points plus $25,000 prize purse.
