Taupo is well known as the home of IRONMAN New Zealand and is excited to add the newest IRONMAN 70.3 race to its event calendar
The event has been well established in Taupo for 10 years, with 2015 introducing the inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 Taupo, that has become a course to rave about. We're back in Taupo in 2016 for another fantastic event experience.
The 1.9km swim is located in the pristine fresh water Lake Taupo, the 90km bike rolls through New Zealand’s renowned rural landscape and the 21.1km run takes in the picturesque lake lined with spectator and local support.
Great Lake Taupo, home to the 2016 Kellogg's Nutri-Grain IRONMAN 70.3 Taupo, is a popular tourist destination, boasting the largest freshwater lake in Australasia and mountains made internationally famous after being featured in the Lord of The Rings trilogy.
There are 30 qualifying slots to the 2017 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA.
Professionals compete for P-750 points and $25,000 prize purse.
